Overview
Set out on an adventure through Korea, using trains and local metro systems to explore the picturesque beaches and countryside. Experience life like a local by indulging in mouth-watering chicken and beer at charming neighbourhood pubs, trekking through breath-taking mountains, and admiring the stunning scenery.
Located in the heart of Seoul, the cosy guesthouse is just an hour away from the airport and surrounded by youthful artists and a lively marketplace bursting with activity every day. During the week-long program, you will learn about the rich culture and traditions of Korea while immersing yourself in Korean life.
Participating in Seoul Culture Week is an excellent way to familiarise yourself with Korea and get comfortable before starting your volunteer placement. By the end of the program, you will be a confident Seoulite, able to navigate your way around Korea with ease!
Days and Hours
Usually, Seoul Culture Week features 3-4 hours of scheduled activities each day, including tours, learning to write your name in Korean with a brush, or trying out a placement. The rest of the day and weekends are free for you to spend as you please. You may wish to take a day trip or go on a hike, or simply relax and unwind at the guesthouse. The local team is available to assist you in planning and making reservations for your chosen activities.
Personal Appearance
It is recommended to bring a variety of clothing options, ranging from casual wear to business casual attire, similar to what you would wear in your home country. While there are no strict rules regarding clothing for your free time, please ensure that you pack appropriate work attire for your upcoming placement. It is advisable to bring clothes that can withstand dirt or damage, and it is highly recommended to bring work gloves and boots.
Daily Transportation
Our projects are situated in different parts of Seoul, but most of the scheduled activities during Culture Week will be located in central Seoul. The local team will accompany you to all activities. The most efficient and cost-effective method of transportation to and from activities in Seoul is by taking the metro or bus. Travel times will vary depending on the activity, and you should anticipate spending between 30-60 minutes traveling each way.

Seoul is also known for its innovative technology, fashion, and music industries, making it a hub of creativity and innovation.

Food & Accommodation
You will stay in a local hostel in Seoul. Rooms are shared but you can upgrade to a private room for an additional fee. The accommodation is conveniently located close to the airport and to the city centre and includes shared rooms for 2-8 people, western toilets, heating, and hot showers. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and wifi is available in the common areas. There are laundry facilities on site, and a friendly pub is open to all the guest son first floor of the guesthouse for everyone to enjoy. The accommodation is located near the subway station and is walking distance to shops, mini-mart, ATM, supermarket, local restaurants, and coffee shops.
Breakfasts are prepared at the accommodation. Lunch and dinner will be provided at various partnered restaurants near the accommodation which you can choose from, but most of the meals will consist of typical Korean dishes. Occasionally the lunch meal will be provided outside of the centre according to program schedules.

FAQ
Culture week is a great option for first time visitors to Korea, and who want to learn about this unique culture. It is an opportunity to meet the other volunteers, get comfortable with the culture and area, before the start of your project, which can help you ease into your volunteer project a little easier.Â

Programs begin every Monday, and volunteers are required to arrive the day prior, for orientation before the project. Your accommodation on the Sunday is included in the program fees.
A free airport pickup is included when arriving to Incheon Airport (ICN). You must arrive from 10:00 to 21:00 on Sunday. If arriving on the Saturday, we charge US$50 for the extra night’s accommodation, and $50 for a private transfer.
If arriving in the week, you will need to make your own way to the accommodation, and arrange your own accommodation until the weekend.Â
