Family Volunteering Abroad
Children learn more from what you do, than what you tell them to do, so show them the power of giving back! Family volunteering is an incredible opportunity to bond together, and learn something new.
Why family volunteering?
Volunteering with your children or teens is a fantastic way to do something different, take part in a unique experience as a family, and to teach your children about giving back.
This is a fantastic learning opportunity for the entire family, to experience another country, to learn about a new culture, and to contribute to a developing community.
Family volunteering is allowed on specific programs, so please do check with us before booking. Generally, we accept children from 3 years and over. If you have older teens, we have programs for 16 years+ which they may be able to take part in themselves.
Children need to be supervised by their guardians at all times, or if over 16 a permission letter is required.

What does family volunteering involve?
Naturally certain volunteer projects are more suited to family volunteering than others.
Our childcare and teaching programs are best all-round projects for families, particually if you are taking younger children with you. They will be able to take part in the childrens activities and interact with the local children. This provides a great chance for a cultural exchange.
You could also volunteer on a conservation project. This is a fantastic way to practiically lend a hand whilst teaching your children about environmental issues. This is suited to children and teens who like to be outdoors. Our animal conservation projects are also a great way to teach kids about protecting endangered species.

What are the benefits of family volunteering?
The are so many reasons why volunteering abroad as a family is beneficial. Not only do you have the chance for an exotic holiday, you have the added reward of doing something valuable too!
Here are some of the benefits of family volunteering:
- It puts things into perspective. For children and older teens, seeing disadvantaged communities in person allows them to see how other people live, which can be a valuable teaching opportunity.
- You will bond as a family. Doing something for the greater good and helping others, can feel like a real achievement and a chance to make some beautiful memories together.
- It teaches the value of helping others. Having your children volunteer with you can make them appreciate the value of helping others and the joy it can bring to people, and themselves.
- You will learn new skills. From learning to communicate with people from around the world, to practical skills on your project, you will come away learning something new!
